NOW...with Bill Moyers...In these times of fair and balanced reporting it is refreshing to watch a show where the host shows bias towards a certain view but allows the possibility of being wrong. Moyers and his crew present stories, emphasizing the importance of why an individual needs to stay involved. The show airs on Friday nights in Springfield, Il on Channel 8 at 9:00 PM and Channel 12 at 8:00 PM. There is also a good companion web site which expands the show's interviews, identifies resourses, learning aids and a guide to useful web sites. (Many of the sites reviewed on this page came from the NOW site.) Because of the amount of information the site offers the search for information can be a bit cumbersome, espeically if looking for an archived item. To get a taste of their blogs click on reader, click on... Defense Sites.

The Federal Procurement Data Center... After watching an episode of NOW about defense spending I went to their link page and found my way to this site. I have already spent a few hours there. Here's a brief description copied from their page:
The Federal Procurement Data Center (FPDC), part of the U.S. General Services Administration, operates and maintains the Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS). The FPDS is the central repository of statistical information on Federal contracting. The system contains detailed information on contract actions over $25,000 and summary data on procurements of less than $25,000.
One on my favorites is the reports section. It let me search by contractor, state, country or service for the contracts awarded by the Federal Government. See where the money goes and what we get in return.

Investor Responsiblity Research Center... This site offers a look at various propsals being present by stockholders to their corporations. The proposals listed usually deal with the corporation's social responsiblity.
