Blood on the Sidewalk Walking to town for a sandwich; bone tired/crabby/need the vacation that preparing for has made me bone tired/crabby/... Suddenly on the sidewalk Red splattermarks as could only be made By someone's heart bursting out of their chest. It's happening all over town. Not much news coverage. People from all walks of life All they have in common is They don't like how they're walking. Thousands in Springfield Maybe higher per capita than anywhere in the world Creates an energy field And somehow, nobody wants to know how, The architecture channels this energy, Focuses it like a fire hose Whipping around insanely When it catches somebody that shares it Sympathetic vibrations jar the heart loose And it blows right out through the sternum And leaves town.
